Best Albums of 2013

One more year. One more list.

This year was good for music. At times, it got hard for me to continue listening new materials because I would still be jamming to some older records. There was at least one good album out every month. The result is that the year has ended and I have yet to listen several albums properly which includes the likes of  Amok, Vampire Weekend, Foals, Eminem, QOTSA, Paramore, PaTD!, ADTR etc. But luckily, I managed to give enough time to the records that actually mattered. Specially, the latest release from Arcade Fire. So without wasting anymore words, let's look at the albums that made the cut this year!

7.Fall Out Boy - Save Rock and Roll

They are a living example of how much a band can be stereotyped. No matter what they do, they have this 'emo' image and  I feel sad for those who think the same. Nonetheless, they came back from almost 4 years of hiatus and released one of their best works to date.

Phoenix -4.5/5
My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark -5/5
Alone Together -5/5
Where Did the Party Go? -5/5

Rat A Tat -3.5/5
Save Rock And Roll -5/5 the best song on the album

Final Rating 4.4/5

6. Daft Punk - Random Access Memories

This album was a total accident. I'm not a big Daft Punk fan and this is my first album by them. Discovering this album slowly over the course of one year was fun and finally when I listened 'Touch', I was convinced that this was no ordinary "electro" album.

Give Life Back To Music - 4/5
Game of Love - 4/5
Giorgio By Moroder - 5/5 the best song on the album
Within -4.5/5
Instant Crush -5/5
Lose Yourself to Dance -4.5/5
Touch -5/5 hidden gem
Get Lucky -4.5/5
Beyond -4/5
Motherboard -4/5
Fragments of Time -4.5/5
Doin' It Right -4.5/5
Contact -5/5
Horizon -4.5/5

Final Rating 4.8/5

5. Kanye West - YEEZUS

Kanye West is a genius! This is what he said about himself in an interview this year. He came quite close
but still there's something lacking. This is the only rap/hip hop album I listened this year ( no time for MMLP2) and though the album as a whole is not as good as his last release MBDTF, it certainly packs some really great songs. Nonetheless, it has been one of the most influential albums for me to date and that is the reason I have placed it this high!

On Sight - 5/5   try it at 1:17
Black Skinhead- 5/5  second best workout track of the year
I'm a God - 2.5/5
New Slaves - 5/5
Hold My Liquor - 5/5 the best song on the album
I'm In It - 3.5/5
Blood On the Leaves - 4/5
Guilt Trip - 2.5/5
Send It Up - 2/5
Bound 2 - 5/5 check out the video

Final Rating 4/5

4. Arctic Monkeys - AM

The less I say about this album, the better. It was the most hyped album of the year for me.

Do I Wanna Know? -5/5
R U Mine? -5/5   have you seen that air guitar of Alex yet ?!

Fireside -5/5
Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High - 5/5
Snap Out Of It -5/5  catchy and dancy
Knee Socks -5/5
I Wanna Be Yours - 5/5

B-side- Stop the World I Wanna Get Off With You -5/5

Final Rating -4.8/5

3. The National - Trouble Will Find Me

The only problem with this album is that it needs a certain mood to get into and listen it on repeat on daily basis. But once you manage to let it go deep down in your skin, you will find that this album is not just a collection of songs, it's a collection of some really fucked up emotions floating in electronic form ready to twist your soul. At first, most of the songs sound similar and the whole album looks quite monotonous. But the more you discover, the more it grows on you.

I Should Live In Salt -4.5
Demons -5/5  one of the best music moments of the year is on this track
Don't Swallow The Cap -5/5  catchiest song on the album

Humiliation -5/5
Pink Rabbits -5/5
Hard To Find -5/5 the best song on the album

Final Rating  4.8/5

2.The Strokes - Comedown Machine
The most dancy album of the year! I was lucky enough to get my hands on this album. No pre release interviews or advertisement and no post release tours. This album is a gem. Once I tweeted," This album is so 'futuristic' ".

Tap Out -5/5  probably one the best songs of the year

b-side - Fast Animals 4.5/5
Final Rating 4.9/5

1. Arcade Fire - Reflektor
I wasn't that excited about it before the release. For me, it's the biggest surprise of the year! They had already claimed that they were going epic as never before for this album. Such confidence! It's a grand album with big choruses and bigger outros and some of the best music moments I have ever come across.

Reflektor -4.5/5  those french vocals!
We Exist -5/5  sickest bassline of the year
Flashbulb Eyes -4/5 this is a funny song
Here Comes the Night Time -5/5 catchiest song on the album
